Breaking into the music industry in 2019, Chris Anthony is a nineteen-year-old Alternative-Indie-Pop singer-songwriter hailing from Centreville. He marked his debut with his first original track, “Alone” which went on to garner more than 10,000 streams in just the span of two weeks.
He then went on to release his next highly successful track, “Get Away” recently in collaboration with the phenomenal artist and producer Bardo. Chris uses his music to explore personal experience with mental health. He tries to use his platform to spread out a message to his listeners to live each and every day to its fullest and also conveys a message to be kind to each other as we don’t know what the person next to us is going through.
Chris took out some of precious time to talk to Peachy Magazine to reveal insights to his music journey, inspirations and plans for future projects.
Hello Chris! Thank you for joining us on Peachy Magazine. For the people who are yet to be introduced to your music, kindly tell us something about yourself!
My name is Chris Anthony, I’m 19 years old from Centreville, VA and I am an Alternative Indie-Pop artist! I like to write music that can appeal to everyone, if its someone just wanting to vibe out to something in their car or for the people who want to dig deep into the meaning of my writing. I also like to discuss topics such as loneliness and mental health.
Was there anything you planned out to do before setting out in the music industry?
Not really my goal has always been just to improve as a musician but also try to put out stuff I love and hopefully it translates well to my listeners, and I am blessed that it has so far.
You recently released your new track, “Get Away”. Congratulations! What was the inspiration behind the track?
This record is about not getting wrapped up in the ideal image that society sets for us with fancy products and expensive malleable things, but rather to get away from your problems, out of your own head and enjoy the simpler things that this world has to offer.

What was the creative process like, and did you face any challenges during the making of the song?
When I’m writing or composing my music, I like to be in a really relaxed state of mind. This usually means the lights out and just sitting quietly under dim light with my notes working together different ideas in my head. Most of my songs start out as a sad ballad on the piano or guitar but usually transforms into something a lot greater. But I actually for some reason get a lot of good ideas for melodies when I am in the shower so I need to hum it out loud, so I don’t forget and immediately record it as a voice memo on my phone! The most difficult part about writing this piece was just the timing, it took a couple months for me to get it where I wanted, but I’m pleased with the results.
How would you describe your sound?
Definitely pop but I try to use the lower parts of my voice because I am a natural bass. I also like to use a lot of vocal fry when I sing to try to put more vocal and tone qualities in my pieces. I also like to experiment in production using many different instruments and sounds.
What can the fans expect from your future projects?
For my next project I am hoping to dive deeper into the innerworkings of the mind and hopefully deliver a very strong message in a very catchy way.
Who are your musical influences?
The Beatles, Chet Atkins, the Stray Cats, and Elvis for sure. They all defined their genres and eras with their amazing music, but they also had such a badass look going for them and their whole idea of capitalizing on their image was and is really cool to me. I definitely grew up listening to rock and roll and always tried to imitate what I saw.
If you could have the chance to collaborate with any one artist/band of your liking, who might they be and why?
I would say Charlie Puth. He has such a high music IQ plus he is very talented at singing and producing it if I have a melody or something in my head he would be able to tell me the notes and key of everything and help put everything on paper which is such an amazing gift to have.
Lastly, is there any message that you would like to convey to your fans?
One last piece of advice I will leave you is never let anyone in this world tell you what you can and can’t do, you enter this world alone and leave it alone so it is important to do what makes you happy and live your life to the fullest.
